This is a weekly prompt community for original characters based off existing fandoms.

• Every week on Sunday, 2 new prompts will be posted, a general prompt and a relationship prompt, since I know a lot of fandom OCs are oc x canon based. Every 5 weeks there will be an amnesty challenge in which any past prompts can be filled.
  
• Use the prompts any way you want - fill one, fill both, combine them in one fill, whatever you'd like!
• Fills can be posted in any shareable medium; art, fic, icons, mixes, whatever you'd like.
• This is intended for original characters made for existing canons. While completely original works are great, this is not the place for them.
• Fills for this can be used as fills for other events as long as the other event allows it.
• OC x Canon, Self-shipping, polyamory, het, slash, femslash, gen - anything allowed.
• Loose interpretations of prompts are totally cool. As long as it makes sense to you!
• No harassment, bashing, etc.
• No length minimums or maximums.
• Tag fills with the prompt tag and fandom.

Nope, They can be anything!

Oh good. I do write occasional human OCs, but most of mine tend to be aliens, because I write mostly in SF fandoms.

I do have a question related to the existing canons rule - how do characters from "original seasons" of existing franchises fit into this? Example: a fan season for Power Rangers, which will probably be made of up an all-OC main cast, but still heavily tied to Power Rangers as a canon rather than being a standalone original sentai story that could get pro-published without a lot of rewriting. Or an OC Pokemon trainer in a fanmade region, whose Pokemon are mostly also ones designed by their creator for that region instead of canon ones?

Thank you for the answer! In that case, while I tend to end up stalling out on actually writing if I spend too much time otherwise talking about them, I do have a long-term fanseason cast I might end up posting about here in the future if I fall into another lull of working on the main story. :)

Hi! So, prompts do close every week; however, I've decided that after every 5 weeks I'll be doing an amnesty challenge where people can fill any past prompt that's been posted. So that'll be the week after this next one, December 8-15.

Oh, I wish this place had been around/I'd had Internet access a decade ago, when I was plotting out a Doctor Who fanseason...

Anyway, irrelevant stuff aside, lol, I have a question that I've been building up the nerve to ask you for the past few days.

Can an OC be inspired by a fandom character? I realize that, at first glance, the obvious answer would have to be "no", but I have a reason for asking.

I have certain headcanons regarding my player character in Pokemon Masters EX, but I know that the devs have their own plans (whatever they are), that won't go in that direction. These headcanons of mine are so persistent and interesting to me that, two months ago, I had a really cool dream that gave me a story idea. And I know that my own ideas will clash with whatever the devs have planned.

So, essentially, can an OC be created that isn't said character, but inspired by her, with a backstory of my own creation, and with my headcanon ideas applied to her, instead? Would that be in keeping with the rules of this community?

Would taking mobile suits/Gundam, which generally aren't sentient, and giving them sentience, personalities, and occasional human-shaped bodies be okay?
