Cross Stitch Farm Animals

I am so far behind with posting pics of my completed cross stitch projects, so I'll see if I can catch up a bit over the next few weeks. I can't even remember what I posted last. Anyway, these are the most recently completed set, four cute Margaret Sherry farm animals. Stitched on 18 count with one strand of thread.

Murdle Volume 2 ended on a cliffhanger. Nooo... I feel like the puzzles were harder on this one, which was nice.

Had a wasp's nest growing on the front door. Right at the top, in the corner, very sneaky. Was the only one in the house who could hear the awful buzzing. Good, now it's gone.

The weather is also impossible here. Way to hot.

It's Hassie!

Taking a break from online activities given how nuts everything currently is. Imagine me hanging up one of those "Out to Lunch, Back Soon!" signs on this blog.

Hope you all find the good in each day and have ample opportunities to find rest!

Breadless Cheese Sandwich: “Lilo & Stitch 2: Hämsterviel Havoc” For Game Boy Advance

Breadless Cheese Sandwich: “Lilo & Stitch 2: Hämsterviel Havoc” For Game Boy Advance

Developers: Climax Handheld Games, Firemint
Publisher: Buena Vista/Disney Interactive
Genres: Action, Platformer, Shooter, Puzzle
Release Date: 2004

We’ve seen both of these developers before on this blog. They both at one point worked on handheld games for the Nicktoons Unite series—Firemint developed “Nicktoons: Attack of the Toybots” for the Game Boy Advance and Climax Studios (they’ve gone by several names) developed both the Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance versions of “Nicktoons Unite!” You can even see an immediate similarity between GBA “Nicktoons Unite!” and “Lilo & Stitch 2” upon opening the games and looking at the main menus—they share the same style, albeit with some minor differences here and there.

Anyway, given the mention of Hämsterviel in the title, we have ourselves a tie-in to the “Lilo & Stitch: The Series” cartoon, which served as a sequel to the “Lilo & Stitch” movie. In this cartoon, Lilo and Stitch are trying to find the other 625 experiments that Jumba created and steer them away from their original evil purposes.

Fixation of the Week
  • I got my Jeltsje/Rodney bracelets, and the artist was so sweet and made buttons of them too!! I've been so happy about them all week, and I think when I get paid I'll ask them to make a Takumi/Francis themed pair.

Media Stuff
  • Dr Who S05E06-10 - Oh man, I love this silly British twink and his adventures through space and time! They're so hopeful and lovely, and even silly and bad episodes have this sense of delight, and childlike wonder and fun. I feel like I'm watching a comforting fairy tale each time. The show sometimes puts me to sleep, but in a nice way; the chamomile tea of sci-fi. Excited for the next season of Eleven!
  • DNDads S3E01-04 - Relistening to refresh my memory on the plot, and also to get little characterization snippets of Francis. I love his development so much - he's very clearly a coward but has dedicated goals and works hard toward them, alongside being... well. Francis. A bullied pervert with impossible parental expectations thrust upon him.
  • Duck Detective: The Ghost of Glamping - a very cute, short little visual novel. Played it all in 1 sitting! Highly recommend because the lead duo of Sean Chiplock and Brain David Gilbert as a drunk noir duck detective and an overly enthusiastic sidekick is hilarious.
  • Deltarune (sensing a theme here) - Beat Chapter 3 this weekend, and moving on to Chapter 4 right now. Was not expecting that twist at the beginning, or at the end. It has reawakened my latent crush/"oh my gosh they're so cool I love them so much" feelings re: Susie, and I ain't complaining. I was not expecting the symbolism and throughline of media consumption in Chapter 3, and it honestly gave me a lot to think about, alongside...
  • How the Bible Actually Works: In Which I Explain How An Ancient, Ambiguous, and Diverse Book Leads Us to Wisdom Rather Than Answers―and Why That's Great News (holy title, Batman) - almost done with this book, and I think the author has taught me a lot! I think his emphasis on the Bible being a tool to draw us toward the pursuit of wisdom and adapting to new information, and not a literal be-all end-all truth, has been a wonderful way of showing the development of the Christian religion while not forcing yourself to be married to a particular translation, or collection of books. I'd been worried about the Apocrypha and my lack of knowledge on this subject, but the book was a great way to show that there's a lot of contradictions that arise from simply viewing the Bible as this monolith rather than a divinely inspired book put together by fallible humans trying to make sense of the world around them through the lens of their own culture and that divine inspiration.
  • The Children's Blizzard - a nonfiction book about the blizzard across the Dakotas in the late 1800s that caused hundreds of people to die due to its severity, and the lack of proper weather forecasting seriousness in the US Army at the time. Utterly fascinating, and so well written. There are quite a few quotes from this I've saved simply because the author does a lovely job describing storms and their destructive power in such poetic language.
  • Looking at signing up for [community profile] iddyiddybangbang this summer to get some of my Takumi/Francis brainworms out of my head. Am I going to put these funky guys in Situations? Yes I am. Am I going to go into gratuitous detail? Yes I am. Still thinking through the scenario, but I think once I get it written down I'll officially put myself down for a 5k+ fic of whump! And thankfully, signups aren't until July 10, so I have plenty of time.

Guess I'm Greyplatonic

So I recently remembered aplatonic people existed because of It Was Never About Friends by [archiveofourown.org profile] mimicsunraiys (Shuichi/Maki fic for NDRV3). And now I think I'm greyplatonic. Now its hard to describe this to people who have no clue what that means (as I've learned), and I'm likely not the person to go to for this since I just figuered this out. But it got me curious about aplatonic people. Do you guys know of aplatonic characters from media or fanfic? leave them in the comments; I'm curious.

Lately

Hey all! I've been going through a lot lately, but thankfully this time, it's not a bad going through it! What I've been going through - a transformation of sorts. I finally feel happy. I feel like season 2 episode 1 Delenn. I said in a recent update that I started a new medication that helped, and man has it been helping! Especially now. I'm in a chronic illness flare up, and I can barely get out bed or sit up without exhaustion. I think it is because I exerted myself way, way too much at the concert.

I saw my favorite band in the whole world, Bloc Party, on the seventh! It was one of the best days of my life. They mean the world to me. However, the concert and staying overnight in a hotel afterwards really killed me. I did TOO MUCH and I am PAYING THE PRICE!! Hopefully I get over this soon. It's sort of killing my ability to fandom stuff, you know, when I'm so tired all the time. But the thing is also, it doesn't really matter to me if I'm bedbound or housebound anymore? Something I've noticed is that I'm able to find happiness anywhere if I really look hard enough. Like ok, sure I can't do much, but I can still cuddle my cat and listen to audiobooks and use my laptop if I find the right position and heating pad-neck fan-neck pillow combo. You really do have to find ways to enjoy life even in the dreary moments. For some people, the existence I have right now, they would consider it a fate worse than death. But I believe disabled people can have joy, WILL have joy. I'm happy this way. SURE, it'd be great to be able to go outside and write in the front yard like I used to, but I can't get there again unless I take it easy. And even if I don't get there again? Life is still livable. Enjoyable even. You just have to know where to look.

Does that sound like toxic positivity? I hope not. Understand that I am coming from the perspective of someone who has been severely depressed since the age of five, who is now finally coming out of said depression and trying to adjust to the word around zher.

On the fandom side of things. I'm working on the roadmap for the project I outlined in a recent locked post / on Fediverse (btw if you are on there please drop me a link and I'll follow you!). I'm participating in noncon exchange and I'm really excited for that. I also got my assignment for the doubles flash today. Joined [community profile] seasons_of_fandom , even if I don't really know what I'm doing yet. And of course, with each day that passes, Battleship grows near <3 I'm so deeply excited for Battleship.

Oh, and I am running Sapphic Summer this year at [community profile] toothpastejuice ! Come check it out!

Hope you are all well.
